Matik has announced that SEI Laser is exhibiting the latest enhanced version of Labelmaster at Labelexpo Europe. On display are two models with web widths of 350 and 600 mm. With full digitalization, from order receipt to shipment, converters using the new Labelmaster can reach a new level of speed and productivity, the company says.

Labelmaster, a complete and professional modular system for “roll to roll” and “roll to sheet” digital diecutting and finishing, is suitable for the production of self-adhesive labels in all sectors: industrial, wine, food and beverage, beauty, textiles, flexible packaging, promotional, converting and many others. During Labelexpo Europe, visitors have been able to see the laser processing of different types of labels and special finishes on different materials – such as paper, PP and textile. The products have been developed by SEI Laser engineers from Curno (BG).

“As we arrive at Labelexpo 2019, it is proving to be the acknowledged acceptance of the digital business model, now indispensable in all (or almost all) labeling and packaging segments,” says Ettore Colico, converting director at SEI Laser. “It is no longer used just for well-known special effects, but with the confidence and respect for a digital technology that has reached complete maturity. Jumbo rolls, automatic motorized knives and ‘wide web’ have been the key points of the SEI Laser stand in Brussels.”

Labelmaster has been specifically developed to meet the demands of converters and label producers looking for great performance. In an increasingly competitive market, the QR-code/bar code reading system allows users to change work on the fly, ensuring high productivity and eliminating setup times. Lastly, the control software, compatible with most popular digital workflows, maximizes efficiency for many types of work: web to labeling, web to stickers, and web to packaging.

SEI Laser has been presenting two configurations of its “Best in Class” laser solution for labels at Labelexpo 2019: Labelmaster in 350 and 600 mm web configurations. Labelmaster, now in its third generation, is equipped with four laser heads to reach a constant speed of over 100 m/m, equaling or exceeding the productivity of traditional diecutting and finishing systems. The speed is kept constant by the traction control system, which works in synergy with the control unit monitoring the longitudinal deviation of the printed substrate, guaranteeing perfect registration and high-quality laser processing.

Labelmaster is a modular system, customizable upon purchase or after it is installed, with different finishing options: diecutting, cutting, microperforation, easy-open, engraving, coding and, thanks to optional, different finishes: semi-rotary flexo printing/ varnishing, semi-rotary hot stamping, inspection, control and slitting.
